Discovery Station Preschool - History

Our history

Discovery Station Walnut Grove opened in Sept. 2002 and our Willoughby location followed in 2003. Our third location in the Mountainview Aliance church opened the Fall of 2008.
Carol White, the owner/operator of the centers has been licensed by the Child Care Facilities Licensing Board, since June of 1975. She spent two years as Head Supervisor at Richmond Bethel Day Care and several years working part time in Cranbrook and Surrey B.C. . In 1980 she opened a “license not needed” child care centre in her home and operated for four years. The next four years were occupied with completing her family- four children, along with helping her husband Doug start and operate his business. In 1989 Carol opened Chipmunk Achievers Preschool for a local church and for fourteen years held the position of Director/Head Supervisor developing a program that was known in the North Langley area for it’s high standard of teaching and care. From 1995 to 2008, she taught in the Early Childhood Program at Columbia Bible College as a sessional instructor as well as mentoring students for practice teaching opportunities. In year 2000 she also added the responsibility of overseeing Practicum students from this same college, being directly involved in the monitoring and evaluation process.
